BACKSTREET BOYS: Boy Bands: Not Just Pretty Faces

If anyone knows me personally, they knew this was the real reason why this was even a blog at all…. I just wanted to state, on the record, how much I love the Backstreet Boys. Brian Litrell, Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter and AJ Mclean, formed the Backstreet Boys in 1993 and went on to become one of the most successful, best selling groups of all time with over 130 albums sold.

“Quit Playing Games With My Heart” was released 1997 with their debut, self-titled album and reached #2 on the Billboard charts. After a successful tour around the world and 2 years later, Millennium was released in 1999 and sold 1.3 millions copies in it’s first week, and the first single “I Want It That Way” aided that without a doubt. They continued to break records, others and their own, when they sold 1.6 millions albums with their third album Black & Blue.

After addiction issues with certain members, the start up of families from the others, a greatest hits album, and a much needed hiatus, the group got back together (minus Kevin Richardson) and continue to perform sold out tours and will possibly tour with father boy band, New Kids On The Block.

Boy bands are obviously not as popular as they once were, but you can’t deny they were a great moment in time. Between all the guys above, *Nsync, 98 Degrees, LFO, O-Town, West Life, Take That and many many more (even dating back into the 1970′s) “boy bands” have sold millions of albums world wide and continue to have adoring fans no matter what title they are given.
