Put your 1990s hat on for a moment. Do you remember the BackStreet Boys? They were one of the biggest selling musical groups of all time – like the mid to late 90’s version on New Kids on the Block. The group recently announced plans to take to the high seas for a fan cruise. Yes, a fan cruise. The Backstreet Boys Cruise 2010, as it’s being called, will take place on an not-yet-unnamed Carnival cruise ship from Dec. 9-13. The announcement comes in the wake of a sell-out fan voyage by the aforementioned, New Kids on the Block. The New Kids already have announced plans for a second fan cruise to take place in May. Details of the upcoming trip, unveiled on the Backstreet Boys’ website, say the voyage will include a performance by the band, question and answer session, photo session, deck party and beach party. If this is sounding a little crazy to you, keep reading.
Hasbeen boy bands aren’t the only ones setting up adventures on the high seas. There are several fan cruises setting sails from all ports of call. The Alaska Twilight Cruise & Convention at Sea leaves from Seattle; the 2nd Official Betty Boop Fan Cruise is scheduled for 2011; fans of the San Diego Chargers just returned from a south of the border getaway; and rock n’rollers were “chillin the most” on the Kid Rock Cruise.
What’s next a Suri Cruise Fan Cruise? We’re sure she puts on a mean dress up show.
