Amsterdam – With the creation of the Backstreet Boys in 1993 started one of the greatest musical achievements of the past two decades. But the celebrity at a young age demanded his toll.
“We experienced the world in an intensive way, it was difficult to contain it all,” said the 34-year-old Brian Littrell. Especially the latest Backstreet Boys, Nick Carter and AJ McLean, were difficult during the heyday of the late 90s. This led to both McLean and Carter to excessive drug use.
“We have been through so much together,” says the now 31-year-old McLean. “We have made memories together, good and bad. We are like family and have helped each other grow.”
The debut album by the Backstreet Boys, appeared in 1996 and was especially well received in Europe. The single, “We’ve Got It Going On” formation also triggered the first gold record on.
“That was in Germany,” says Littrell yet. “It was a milestone for us and something we always dreamed of. The gold plate has still a special place in my house.”
The success at home was only the second album, Backstreet’s Back. “But the real boom came after the album Millennium,” explains McLean out.
Stadiums
“We played night after night in stadiums, it was a madhouse.” The mutual support has truly earned the band still makes music. This resulted in the seventh studio album “This Is Us” that appeared in October.
The band members are now in a quieter phase of their lives. Littrell has a son so that he often looks back on his career.
“Then we see such videos of Dad’s first single and world tour. At those moments on television I realize just how much we have already achieved.”
Forward
Yet for the Backstreet Boys now important to look ahead. Littrell: “We have not finished the past, as we learn from, but it is important for us to focus on the future lay. We want our fans to take the future and hopefully succeed with the new album.”
