BACKSTREET BOYS: 76er Stud Evan Turner Drops Knowledge On Backstreet Boys, Boy Bands

Yesterday, Stan Hochman said that something was wrong with Evan Turner. The Sixers responded to the report, saying that nothing was wrong with Evan Turner. Prior to Philadelphia's game against the Boston Celtics, Turner met with the media and said that everything was copacetic.

During the game he proved as much, scoring a career-high 26 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Turner shot 11-for-19 from the floor as the Sixers dominated the sluggish Celtics, 103-71. Doug Collins praised Turner after the game, calling him both a true point guard and the team's best rebounder.

It's always nice when a player gets to silence talk that's bubbling about their life off the court.

A few days prior, Turner sat down with Andrew Unterberger of The700Level.com for a wide-ranging interview on basketball and non-basketball related things. Anyone who follows Turner on Twitter knows that he is a huge music fan and is particularly fond of the Backstreet Boys. Unterberger asked Turner to explain why he chooses the Backstreet Boys over the boys of N'SYNC.

Turner got into it, breaking down the group's discography, album by album. I was impressed with his knowledge. I'm a girl from a small town in rural Nova Scotia, Canada where boy bands ruled the earth when I was in my teen years and Turner schooled me on all things Backstreet Boys. That is impressive.

"Yeah, the Backstreet Boys? They just made album after album. Hits, you know. 'N Sync only had…what was it…it wasn't Celebrity, it was No Strings Attached. Which was amazing from front to back. And then Celebrity was just overrated. And then Backstreet Boys, they been going hard with Millennium, you know, Black and Blue and all that stuff, so they been on top for a while. They still make music today! They're like a white Boyz II Men."

The two went on to talk about MTV and the good old days of TRL.

Were you a big TRL fan back in the day?

"Yeah, that was crazy! Carson Daly and stuff? That was back when pop music was crazy, you know what I'm saying? You had Christina, Britney, 98 Degrees, all those people. Tom Green, at one time he went #1, with the Bum Bum Song? That stuff was dope!"

And that is when I started to get nostalgic.

Remember when music stations showed music videos and not overly-tanned teenagers doing debaucherous things?

Me neither.

At least, I don't until an NBA player reminds me of it in his interview with the700level.com.

Oh, Turner also did talk a little basketball. He spoke about the Rising Stars challenge during All-Star weekend. He called Paul George a great guy, and said the key to the Sixers ability to close out games is because they are maturing.

So, yeah. There is your copacetic Evan Turner update of the day.
